ICT WORKSHOP REPORT

NSS TRAINING COLLEGE ICT WORKSHOP

Information and Communication Technology(ICT) is an extended-term for information technology which stresses the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunication, computers as well as necessary enterprise software, middleware, storage, and audio-visual systems, which enable users to access, store, transmit and manipulate information.ICT in education means, Teaching and learning with ICT. worldwide research has shown that ICT can lead to improved student learning and better teaching methods.

As a part of our M. Ed curriculum, we the student of NSSTC, attended a five day ICT workshop on behalf of Dr.Sajan, Assistant professor, NSSTC Ottapalam on 19/08/2019 to 26/08/2019. The program began with prayer. After that Dr.K.S.Sajan Assistant Professor and coordinator of the club, gave the welcome speech. The presidential address was given by the college principal Dr.Ampili Aravind. The program was inaugurated by Sri. Rajeev R.Warrier, Master trainer coordinator, KITE project Ottapalam. After the inaugural session, the chief guest gave an informative class on the topic 'FOSS and its impacts on education'.The session was concluded by vote of thanks.
After the first session,  the students of M.Ed first year attended the ICT workshop. 

Product 1: Preparing an MS Word Document

The first product of the workshop was to prepare a word document and to convert it to APA format. Everyone prepares and edits the APA format document. Our professor gave guidance to correcting our works and introduce the referencing application(Zotero). It is very helpful to us.

Product 2: Preparing an Excel Sheet

We prepare an excel sheet include students' data with graphs.

Product 3: Preparing Powerpoint

Preparing a  powerpoint presentation was the third product of our workshop. It was very interesting for everyone. Every presentation includes images, texts, and videos. Sajan sir introduce the audio and video editors such as audacity, Lexis audio editor, Anchor FM and Durecorder. from this session, we understand the editing software and its usages. it is very effective for making a creative presentation for learning.

Product 4: Preparation of Blog

The students are very curious about the blogger session. Sajan sir talked about blogger and websites, then gave guidelines for creating blogger. we create a blogger with the help of his instructions and upload our works.

Product 5: Introducing new social platforms

We got the pieces of information about the learning and social platforms like Tumblr, Edmodo, Slideshare and forms app. Then we login those platforms and share our works with it.

The workshop was really a different experience for us.The program had given a new oppertunity to have a positive impact in the mind of learners.the workshop was help the student teachers reflect critically and act responsibly to prevent how ICTs are used to support centralization and proprietisation of larger knowledge structure;it will show student teacher how ICT can be adapted to support decentralized structure and processes,as well as build the digital public to make education a participatory and emanicipatory process.

CONCEPT OF TEACHER EDUCATION    An educational institution performs a significant function of providing learning experiences to lead their students from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge. The key personnel in the institutions who play an important role to bring about this transformation are teachers.
